Passing the Palace of Pleasure. (road). (Gaudiguch City) [11254]
The intoxicating scent of poppy flowers and resinous smoke wafts through the air, cast by the
presence of a healing shrine of Mysrai nearby. Throughout the location, small dancing flames flicker
and spark. A few light wisps of cloud are spread high in the sky. The cobbled street widens into a
cul-de-sac here, one side of the road curving away in a large semi-circle towards the northeast. In
that direction, a neat path beyond an open, ornate iron gate leads to an enormous palace.
Constructed of stone with grey and pink hues, the palace has a wide archway as its entrance, giving
a glimpse of the foyer with its rich decorations and shiny floor twinkling softly. The grandeur of
this building is emphasised by the closed gates and high walls of the buildings across the street,
too shy to compete with their impressive neighbour. Surrounded by a landscaped yard complementing
its beauty, this palace draws the attention of any passer-by. A statue of a desert dashro stands
here, memorialising his noble spirit. Springing from a floating golden disk high in the sky, a riot
of gold and red streamers have been attached to any available surface, creating a joyous, festive
atmosphere. Her scales glowing with fierce ruby powder, a dracnari reveller searches for the next
great party. Surrounded by a border of swirling black sand, a brilliant pink portal hangs in midair
here. With chocolate eyes, a slender wyvern with feathered wings prowls around here. A dream-dazed
byakko wanders the area, his wide silver eyes following unseen paradigms with utmost terror and
curiosity. Perched nearby, a giant feral eagle searches her surroundings with eyes of liquid gold.
Her stellar moving erratically in orbit, a flame-wreathed egregore with with howling wings of void-
like emptiness waits here. Massive glowing white wings filling much of the space around him, a sleek
hippogriff stands here, eyeing his surroundings serenely. Only barely noticeable, silver
constellations float about a star-struck explorer, basking them in a faint glow.
You see exits leading southeast, west, and through a glowing pink portal.
You say, "Hmm."
You say, "That's new."
Shulamit tilts her head and listens intently.
"Eh?" Ourina says curiously.
Nepenthe frowns at a glowing pink portal.
Kistan Rithel says, "I forgot people walk to the palace."
You say, "A pink portal."
Tsakali ponders a glowing pink portal thoughtfully, looking it up and down.
Shulamit ponders a glowing pink portal thoughtfully, looking it up and down.
Kistan Rithel says, "Lets go."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "In we go."
You look through a glowing pink portal:
Mosaic courtyard. (Gaudiguch City) [11254]
A brilliant pink hangs over everything like a blanket composed of pure light. A path of obsidian
shards weave through the courtyard, arcing in a perfectly symmetrical zigzag pattern. Intricate
latticework compricses the vaulted ceiling, admitting both natural light and the still and
sweltering air above. Attempts at dispelling the heat are made by small, carved fonts set into the
walls at even intervals, shaped into the beaks of some strange, fantastic creature and spouting fine
mist. Cool, grey marble inscribes the walls, while spontaneous mosaic sequences depicting scaled
lizards, taloned claws, and spined backs trail towards the courtyard's zenith. The worst of the
raging storm cannot seem to find purchase here, and only small gusts of dark sand manage to fall
into the room in small spurts.
There are no obvious exits.
Ashira peers at a glowing pink portal unscrupulously.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "What could go wrong."
"Ok!" you exclaim.
Nepenthe looks up into the air for divine inspiration.
With a careful step, you venture into a glowing pink portal, passing through what seems to be an
entire meadow of pink fog before you emerge, unscathed, in a world strangely familiar to your own.

"Uhh..." stalls Tsakali.
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Very pretty."
Tsakali shrugs helplessly.
You say, "And no way out."
Taking a golden broom by its handle, Zeebin sweeps the room of imperfection and a golden glow
emanates from the ground.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "I certainly hope we aren't stuck here."
"...heheheheheh..."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Madman."
"Heh heh heh" Xis chuckles.
You say, "A trap from the Madman?"
Shulamit hums happily away, regardless.
Kistan Rithel says to you, "We brought the Sacrifice?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Quite possible..."
Tsakali crosses her arms expectantly.
You say, "I could try and teleport us out?"
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "The pink.... yet it isn't the Liar?"
Xis tilts his head curiously at Nepenthe.
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to you, "Maybe we should wait."
You say, "The pink is from the Herald."
Lunette says to you, "Just wait."
You nod your head emphatically.
Zeebin positions himself in front of Shulamit, prepared to ward off all dangers.
Tsakali holds her nose and eats a wedge of mouldy cheese, almost gagging but managing to force it
down. She sighs and her breath nearly knocks you out.
Nepenthe also crosses his arms over his chest, the gesture more of preservation than intimidation.
Through the dark sandstorm, an emaciated human man lurches into view - copper hair hanging wild and
erratic about his head. His dark eyes are wide and his brick-like yellow teeth are bared in a
hideous grimace as he cheerfully exclaims, "FRIENDS!"
"Eek!" Ourina shouts in fright.
Shulamit pats Zeebin in a friendly manner.
You say, "Greetings, Madman!"
Marquis Xis says, "Ask nicely if you want to leave, it might work."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Madman!"
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Hello Madman, feeling Mad today?"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi whispers, "He's not creepy at all."
Kistan Rithel says, "Well met."
Errente nods his head at Esoneyuna.
Errente nods his head at Tsakali, showing his acceptance.
You say, "Whilst we've not met before, it's good that you're out of your cage."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "He needs food."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to Tsakali, "Seems pleasant."
Zacheah wraps her arms around a dream-dazed byakko's neck, holding him tightly.
A maddened laugh escapes the Madman's throat alongside a hearty glob of phlegm that splatters onto
the ground, quickly devolving into a coughing fit. Finally, he straightens, and his eyes widen as he
beholds the number of people here, "SO MANY? ALL HERE, TO DEFEAT THE DARKNESS?!"
Oldsie, Ourina says to Tsakali, "You should have saved the cheese for him."
Tsakali nods her head at Ourina, showing her acceptance.
Shulamit starts to hum softly, colours shifting through a rainbow of softened hues.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "We are here to defeat the darkness, yes."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "What darkness?"
You nod your head in agreement.
Marquis Xis mutters, "What I. . .ike the darkne..."
Esoneyuna's eyes sparkle with amusement.
You say, "We are here to free you if we can."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Defeat, appropriate, whatever my fancy is when we
meet it."
Errente nods his head sagely at Esoneyuna.
Tsakali laughs melodically at Esoneyuna.
You say, "What is the darkness, exactly?"
Lifting her head with regal grace, a giant feral eagle with eyes of liquid gold unfolds her wings
and eyes her surroundings with a beady gaze. Satisfied, she tucks them back at her sides.
"LIAR HAS BETRAYED YOU, YES!" The madman shouts now, waving his arms wildly to gesture as he
emphasises his point, "SOLD HER SOUL TO THE DARKNESS, SO HE WOULD NOT BE ALONE! CALLED THIS TERRIBLE
STORM, BECAUSE SHE KNOWS I'LL BE COMING FOR THE DARKNESS! HE DOESN'T TRUST US!"
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARKNEEEEEEESSSSS!!!"
Ashira creases her brow in a frown.
Shulamit giggles suddenly and without warning before straightening upwards quickly, glowing a muted
pink colour.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Sold who's soul to the darkness?"
You say, "The Liar."
"THE DARKNESS IS THE GREAT BEAST, THE THREAT TO THE HERALD - IT CHASES THE HERALD, ALWAYS AT ITS
WINGS AND NEVER ABLE TO BITE. JACKAL, COBRA, HAWK, SO MANY MORE! NONE AT ALL!"
Kistan Rithel says, "The liar is a girl?"
You say, "They have masculine and feminine traits, they shift between."
You say, "Him and her."
Zeebin exhales a plume of indigo smoke and stretches his jaw wide.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "I would normally never subject anyone to this kind of torture, but I think
this Madman needs a grammar lesson from Hallifax."
You say, "Like the Lord-and-Lady Mysrai."
Errente utters a deep, rumbling laugh at Ourina.
You say, "Ahh, a threat to the Herald. Who you honour."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Madman, how can we help free you and the Liar?"
Kistan Rithel says to you, "And Uncle Shango."
Tsakali nods her head at Ashira, showing her acceptance.
Zacheah's brow wrinkles and she asks herself softly, "Why a jackal, cobra, and hawk?"
You grin mischievously at Kistan.
Esoneyuna tilts back her head and inhales deeply while twitching a wolf's snout.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to Zacheah, "Predators."
"TOO LATE FOR THE LIAR, WE MUST STRIKE HER DOWN. HE WILL NEVER LEAVE WITHOUT THE DARKNESS, AND SHE
WILL CHOOSE THE DARKNESS OVER US! OVER THE HERALD!"
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Desert predators."
Beloved Zacheah, Iklaran Nomad says to Ashira, "Jackals aren't predators though, they're
scavengers."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "None of that explains what the Darkness is."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Jackals aren't predators any more than any other carnivore. Jackals
are guardians, protectors. They mate for life, you know."
Tsakali purses her lips pensively, gazing off into the distance as she carefully gathers her
thoughts.
Errente nods his head at Tsakali, showing his acceptance.
Kistan Rithel says, "Focus, people."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "I think he's saying the darkness is the Liar."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "He may give up the darkness if given the chance to leave
with us."
You say, "If the Darkness can be defeated, perhaps we can extract the Liar from its grip."
You shake your head at Ourina.
Ashira nods her head at you.
Lunette nods her head at you.
You say to Ourina, "The Liar is separate from the darkness."
Errente nods his head at you, showing his acceptance.
Ourina thrusts her palm towards her forehead and hits it with a resounding *smack*!
Kistan Rithel says, "Unless they are all one and the same?"
You say, "If loneliness is what the Liar fears, we can offer a better choice without demanding their
soul."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Precisely."
You say to Kistan, "Well, yes."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to you, "We all assume the Liar has a choice at this
moment."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "We are many friends in friend shaped bodies."
Zeebin nods his head at Shulamit.
You say, "We have a thought on how we might perhaps defeat the darkness, if we might try it."
"THE TIME FOR PEACE WAS UNTOLD TIME AGO, WHEN SHE FIRST CAME HERE! BUT HE CHOSE THE DARKNESS! SHE
BROUGHT THE DARKNESS TO MY SAFETY, ALMOST ALLOWED IT TO EAT ME WHOLE! IT CANNOT BE TRUSTED. HE
CANNOT BE TRUSTED!"
Shulamit slumps down, slowly throbbing a deep amber.
"So if you see him too let him know," sings Kistan, quickly playing a celebratory tune on a terrible
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Can peace not come again?"
You say, "I do not choose the darkness. They may not be inextricably linked to the Liar."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Fire is not darkness, so...."
(Gaudiguch): You say, "I think we should keep arguing for now."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Where is the Liar so I may speak with him? He will listen
to me."
The Madman's breathing is still hectic, but it begins to unnaturally slow, the sand above also
slowing...until it stops - the Madman mid-shout and spittle frozen in midair.
Ashira blinks.
You blink.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Oh that's not good."
"Uhh..." stalls Tsakali.
Shulamit glances about, her body turning a hazy shade of grey.
Lunette exhales slowly, allowing a long fluid breath to creep from her lungs.
Ourina ponders the situation.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Frozen spittle. Gross."
You say, "Perhaps something is hindering him for a time."
Her eyes glowing a brilliant sapphire blue, Tsakali gazes at you and you feel something within you
click and change.
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "The Liar? Or the Beast?"
You say, "The Liar is a Paradigmatist, we know."
Zeebin plucks a single piece of spittle from the air to examine it.
Errente frets over everything that might go wrong.
Her eyes glowing a brilliant sapphire blue, Tsakali gazes at herself, who seems somehow slightly
different than moments before.
Kistan Rithel says, "He can get into small spaces?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Liar, if you are there, come to us so we can help you!"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to Zeebin, "You don't know where that's been!"
Thoughts and images pour into your head, and you see yourselves - small and insignificant, like ants
before a giant, but easily recognisable. Images of the Madman striking a tae'dae with gold-and-black
fur spring to mind, and a set of scales spring to life in your mind's eye.
Shulamit scratches her head in confusion, creating a sound reminiscent of the tinkling of wind
chimes.
You say, "Hmm. Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Images... of the past?"
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Is it the past?"
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to you, "I think we are all seeing the seen things at
this point."
Showing that she understands, Lunette nods her head slowly.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Only of the Madman striking the Liar."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "It appears so...and scales?"
You nod your head in agreement.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "I would not say the past."
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says, "A chance for atonement. Or vengeance."
Kind Nepenthe looks undecided and says, "Nothing I've ever seen before."
Ourina nods her head at Nepenthe.
On one side, the tae'dae. On the other, the Madman. The scales sit in an uneasy balance, but a
balance nevertheless, a jackal comprised of black sand watching over it without blinking its inky
eyes. You know that a choice must be made between the two, under the watchful gaze of the jackal.
You say, "The scales, perhaps represent that the Madman and the Liar are bal... yes."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Seems we must make a decision, after all."
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "Now we must choose."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "One or the other."
Nepenthe creases his brow in a frown.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Ok, we need to speak to the Liar."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Strike the scales and stop the balance?"
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Kill the jackal."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "The jackal watches over it, I doubt that would
work."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "We cannot choose without speaking to both of them."
Lunette says, "No one do anything to the scales right now."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Well they're not actually here I thought, they're
more...here."
You see an image of each of you moving to side and stay with the Liar, and watch as the scales weigh
in their favour, and when the Madman rises to head height with the jackal, he is consumed in a flash
of an abyssal maw.
(Fire Hogwash): Raughlin says, "Holy. Crap."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "One of them will die if we choose..."
(Fire Hogwash): Raughlin says, "16 citizens."
Oldsie, Ourina mutters, "Oof."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Well."
Zacheah pales considerably.
Shulamit glances about, her body turning a hazy shade of grey.
A moment later, the scene reverses - an image of each of you staying with the Madman, and the Liar
is consumed in the same flash of abyssal fangs.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Perhaps we can split."
Shulamit murmurs softly to herself.
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Bad puppy."
Kistan Rithel says, "Its like it looked into your souls and you all chose darkness."
You say, "The vision suggests that the scale of the conflict is above us, more powerful."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Ok, I say we take out the darkness and save them both."
Marquis Xis says to Zacheah, "Don't think they heard it."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "And what if we remain balanced I wonder."
Ourina nods her head at Esoneyuna.
You say, "But that even small, we could be the deciding vote."
You say, "That tips the scales. That's if we believe it."
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says, "Well, madness has always been a friend to me, in dark times
and happy ones."
Errente nods his head at you.
Lunette asks, "If we remain balanced they stay locked in eternal battle, stuck in the darkness?"
You nod your head at Lunette, showing your acceptance.
Errente nods his head in agreement.
You say, "It would seem that way."
You know now, that the time of ultimate choosing is yet to be - but to move to the Liar, a choice
must be made to leave the Madman behind.
Tsakali puts her hands on her hips and goes "Hmmm!"
Tsakali appears to weigh up her odds of survival.
Shulamit looks around confused, glowing a grey colour.
A shadow can be seen moving in the pink fog, growing more defined until Raughlin steps into
existence.
Raughlin, Enlightened Master says, "Huh."
(Gaudiguch): Lunette says, "Do we have further questions for the Madman before seeing the Liar?"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to you, "What do you think? Balance, or pick one?"
Errente nods his head at Raughlin.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "I need to speak to the Liar. We need his side of this."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "Where is he?"
You say, "I feel we should leave the Madman for now. I can't guarantee that we would learn more, but
it's worth a try."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Let us speak with the Liar then."
Kistan Rithel says to Tsakali, "The choice is yours to make, not hers."
Lunette nods her head at you.
Ashira nods her head at you.
You nod your head in agreement.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "I don't like making uninformed choices."
Xis gives Tsakali a thumbs up.
Kistan Rithel says, "That sadly is life."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "For now?"
You say, "Neither do I. So let's postpone a little longer."
Tsakali scratches her head looking for an idea.
Ourina peers at you unscrupulously.
You know now, that the time of ultimate choosing is yet to be - but to move to the Liar, a choice
must be made to leave the Madman behind.
Shulamit gives a pained sigh.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "You realize that if you choose, it won't be "for now"."
Raising her voice, Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "I choose the jackal."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "This is like a game of Vengeance."
Skeptically, Oldsie, Ourina says, "Unless you propose a way of dragging a corpse out of the jackal."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "The question is, do we need to be unanimous or can
we split up."
Tsakali ponders the situation.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "I'm still here."
You say, "I don't think the moment of the choice is right now."
Kistan Rithel says, "Before we leave, what do we know of the madman?"
Lunette says, "We don't have to ultimately choose yet."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "I choose the Liar."
You say, "We know he's a human. He honours the Herald."
Kistan Rithel says, "What would we need to know to pick him?"
You say, "He kept himself caged as he felt protected from the darkness there."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "The Liar honours the darkness, and is a Tae'dae?"
Lunette says, "Only according to the rantings of a Madman."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "He does not honour it. It keeps him hostage. But he is
Tae'dae."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "That the Liar is in many ways but a puppet of the
darkness."
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud murmurs to Shulamit, "Mother, I like the madman. Is he bad?"
You say, "I would pick him if the Darkness threatened Gaudiguch, and if we weren't able to reduce or
defeat it."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to Zeebin, "I do not know."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to Zeebin, "I have met neither before now."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "If the ultimate effect is one is eaten by
darkness."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to Zeebin, "I am...useless."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to Zeebin, "Bad is subjective. He is simply a madman."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Why not the one that is aligned by it."
Esoneyuna shrugs helplessly.
Lunette says, "The Liar is definitely held hostage by the darkness just as much as the Madman."
A pink portal manifests from nothingness, and through it you can see the vague outline of a ten foot
tall tae'dae. But as you look upon this portal, you see it is the same as your entrance into this
realm, and know you will not be able to return easily, if at all.
Kistan Rithel says, "Madness? Darkness? only madness could make darkness seem an attractive choice.
in madness, in Gaudiguch, lies death."
Tsakali takes a careful step through a glowing pink portal, disappearing but for a vague shadow
visible moving on the other side.
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Oh gods..."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "I'm going."
(Gaudiguch): Tsakali says, "It's the Liar!"
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says, "If we leave, we leave."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "I stand with the madman."
You say, "Through the Portal? Zeebin and Esoneyuna vote for the Madman."
Raughlin begins to follow you.
With a flap of its feathered wings, a slender wyvern glides off to the ether.
Kistan Rithel says, "Through the portal."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Well Ashira left us."
You say, "Tsakali's gone to the Liar."
With massive wings of black feathers outspread, a giant feral eagle soars out majestically on air
currents to the ether.
You nod your head emphatically.
Zeebin nods his head at Esoneyuna.
You say, "Through the Portal then, to see what more we might learn. And whether we can use Truth to
free them."
You shrug helplessly.
With a careful step, you venture into a glowing pink portal, passing through what seems to be an
entire meadow of pink fog before you emerge, unscathed, in a world strangely familiar to your own.
Raughlin follows you ether.
A heat-soaked circle of sweet-rubbed basalt. (the Divine Havens) [49207]
A brilliant pink hangs over everything like a blanket composed of pure light. A ring of solid black
basalt stones rest here atop the Palace of Pleasure, only one still whole against the onslaught of
the sandstorm that rages here. The sweet scents of scented oils are unpleasantly mixed with the
harsh scent of anise and cayenne that only strengthen with each crackle of red lightning through the
swirling vortex of dark sand surrounding you. Free-standing braziers have been scattered, their once-
hot coals now cold and quiet. In spite of the onslaught and chaos pressing in at this location from
all sides, the eye of this storm is held within a bubble of quiet serenity and well-being that holds
strong. Covered in a thick layer of patchwork gold and black fur, the Liar rests here. With
chocolate eyes, a slender wyvern with feathered wings prowls around here. Perched nearby, a giant
feral eagle searches her surroundings with eyes of liquid gold. Massive glowing white wings filling
much of the space around him, a sleek hippogriff stands here, eyeing his surroundings serenely. A
dramatic harlequin is here, limber and ready for any performance. Blue-green tendrils wriggling
constantly, an animate muku sinker looms here with shimmering poise. Marquis Xis is here, shrouded.
He wields a fiery basalt staff in his left hand and the Chromatic Rod of the Avenger in his right.
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons is here, shrouded. He wields a fiery basalt staff in his
left hand and an ebon blackthorn kite shield in his right. He is surrounded by one reflection of
himself. Lunette is here, shrouded.
There are no obvious exits.
Kistan Rithel says, "Truth against a Liar? It seems an apt weapon."
pr liar
Radiant gold and inky black compete for prominence in the thick fur that covers this enormous
tae'dae's body, the well-groomed hair shifting like fields of wheat and clouds through the night sky
with each movement. Thick limbs and ten feet of height paint a dominating outline of their body,
only worsened by the dark cast to their face and the thin line their muzzle is pressed into.
Glittering mis-matched eyes, one brown and one green, have dark circles underneath them, only inches
below a pair of fuzzy round ears that have several still bloody notches missing from them. They are
simply dressed in a pair of linen trousers and a hooded vest of the same material which hangs loose
and casually upon their frame, though the clothing is covered in hundreds of tiny cuts and fine
black sand.
The Liar is quite powerful.
He weighs about 146 pounds.
He has a moderate resistance to cutting damage.
He has a moderate resistance to blunt damage.
He has a terrible weakness to magic damage.
He has a moderate resistance to fire damage.
He has a mild resistance to cold damage.
He has a moderate resistance to poison damage.
He has a moderate resistance to psychic damage.
You cannot see what the Liar is holding.
It has the following aliases: liar, tae'dae.
The Liar's dark gaze raises into the air, and they look up at Ashira, their face falling into deep
despair. "...why...why have you returned?" Angry tears spill down their face, cutting streaks
through dried blood like a hot knife through butter as they cry out, "WAS THE STORM NOT ENOUGH TO
WARN YOU? THERE IS NO WAY TO WIN HERE! I CANNOT SAVE US BOTH!"
Errente frowns at Ashira.
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Well balanced to the liar I guess."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "We will save you from the darkness.
I...we...have come to save you."
Showing that she understands, Lunette nods her head slowly.
You see the following people here:
Tsakali, Xis, Ashira, Errente, Lunette, Raughlin, Kistan, Dys.
(Gaudiguch): Errente says, "I actually think the Liar is the right way."
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "Are you outside the portal still able to hear us?"
(Gaudiguch): Ashira says, "Yes."
(Gaudiguch): Esoneyuna says, "No."
(Gaudiguch): Lunette says, "I agree, Errente."
(Gaudiguch): Kistan says, "Me too."
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "Isn't he called the Liar?"
(Gaudiguch): Kistan says, "Its no worse than the Madman."
(Gaudiguch): Errente says, "Yes, but he if he lies, then what he says is wrong. He can save us."
(Gaudiguch): Lunette says, "By his captor, the Darkness. They did not choose that name."
Shaking their head in deep despair, the Liar exclaims, "You...you know so much, and you understand
nothing. I gave it up, to save you...and you came back...why did you come back? Why can't you just
leaVE ME TO SUFFER ALONE?!"
Softly, Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Noone should suffer alone. Suffering is to be shared, so it
is lessened."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "Because...you are too important to leave
behind..."
You say, "Because you are lonely, that is a truth. Why do you need to be alone?"
You say, "Give up the Darkness and come with us."
Kistan Rithel says, "To bear witness to your suffering."
Errente nods his head at you.
The Liar gives a great sob of a roar, and the storm around you seems to respond, picking up speed
and crackling with brilliant red lightning.
The Liar glares at Kistan and extends a claw towards him, snarling in defiance.
The sandstorm swirling around the Palace of Pleasure solidifies briefly into the shape of a jackal's
head, which snaps down to swallow kistan whole before dissolving into dark sand once more to leave
no trace of him.
Errente blinks.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "I don't know if it is only me, or if you felt
it too, but you and I are connected somehow. I don't know how, but I know deep in my heart that I
must save you, even if you cannot see it."
Raughlin, Enlightened Master says, "Um."
"Uhh..." stalls Tsakali.
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "So what is the liar saying."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Well, I think the Jackal ate Kistan."
You caress the thoughts of Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei as you whisper, "The jackal
just ate Kistan."
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "You are just saying that to make me join you."
Lunette pulls a hand up to her face and hides her lips.
The melodious voice of Kistan resonates in your mind, "Well this is new."
Xis gives the world a thumbs up.
The echoing blast of a horn rings in your ears, played by Kistan. Judging by the volume and timbre
of the sound, you judge it was played at within a sandstorm of chaos energy in the Divine Havens.
Comprehension flashes across your face.
Tsakali rolls her eyes.
You say, "Kistan's horn has a use!"
Raughlin's eyes sparkle with amusement.
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Seems Liar is truly aligned with the darkness then."
Raughlin, Enlightened Master says to you, "Who would have known?"
Errente utters a deep, rumbling laugh at you.
You say, "I can say that most of us are here to help... at least."
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Which strengthens the idea that being consumed by
darkness is what he was bound for anyway."
The Liar huffs in anger and despair, their mismatched eyes turned to the ground and cast in the
shadow of their brow.
Zacheah tells you, "The storm started back up once the Madman could move again. But he seems very
slow. Out of time."
You say, "Liar, you've asked us several times to line up the pieces, yours and mine."
You caress the thoughts of Beloved Zacheah, Iklaran Nomad as you whisper, "That's good to know,
thank you. The jackal just ate Kistan when he said something ill-advised."
The melodious voice of Kistan resonates in your mind, "I was inside the sandstorm."
You say, "If these pieces are truths, we may be able to help. Perhaps the light of Truth can help
you."
The melodious voice of Kistan resonates in your mind, "There is a building in there from which the
storm is emerging."
You say, "Your truths - you are a Paradigmatist, and you are lonely. You are trapped here."
The Liar's gaze does not respond to Ashira's words, their enormous paws quivering in anger...or
perhaps fear.
You say, "My truth, I am Dys Mzithrei, I am from Gaudiguch - a city that values freedom and
individuality."
Ashira walks up to the Liar and places a hand on his arm. "Look at me...please? We just want to help
you..."
(Gaudiguch): Tsakali says, "Maybe the Liar is afraid of escape, or a particular truth they are
sheltered from inside this darkness?"
(Gaudiguch): Esoneyuna says, "Rather irrelevant when the choice is one or the other."
"...don't touch me, please," the Liar says quietly, and snaps two claws together on one enormous
paw.
The sandstorm swirling around the Palace of Pleasure solidifies briefly into the shape of a jackal's
head, which snaps down to swallow Ashira whole before dissolving into dark sand once more to leave
no trace of her.
You say, "I want to help. We want to help."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Nooooo!"
Raughlin, Enlightened Master says, "That jackal is getting annoying."
You caress the thoughts of Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei as you whisper, "Hum. Ashira
touched the Liar and got eaten too!"
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Where is she?"
The illusory glamour of Kistan standing next to himself melts away.
Kistan weaves his hands in an impossibly complex pattern as light warps around him in an unerring
replica of himself, which floats eerily around him.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to Kistan, "How did you taste?"
Kistan Rithel says to the Liar, "These are heroes who wish to free you."
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Did anyone ask the Liar what he thinks of being
consumed by the darkness."
Xis creates a sparkling cloud and then moulds it until it appears like himself.
You say, "What is the darkness? Magic that got out of control?"
Kistan Rithel says to Tsakali, "Delicious i am told."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "Throw me in a storm all you like. I will not
abandon you."
Errente wipes the back of his hand across his brow in relief.
You see the following people here:
Lunette, Xis, Tsakali, Ashira, Errente, Raughlin, Kistan, Dys.
Lunette folds her arms across her stomach and gazes off into the distance in thought, "We are not
heroes. We are ants. We just can have some influence on the outcome of this..."
Tsakali nods her head at Lunette.
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Because is that not the only question relevant? Side
with the madman, Liar gets consumed by the darkness he already is in bed with, side with the Liar
and Madman gets consumed by the darkness he seeks to escape."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Even the ant can dig a hole big enough to trap a sandojin, given
enough time and Will."
Kistan Rithel says to Lunette, "Heroes are just those in the right place at the right time to make a
difference."
"...no," the Liar says just as quietly as before, and they keep their gaze lowered. "I've failed. I
could not save the Madman, and he wishes to kill my..." They pause and take a deep, shuddering gasp,
fresh tears spilling down their snout, "MY BEST FRIEND! MY ONLY FRIEND!" Runes flare along their
snout and they fall to the ground, groping at it angrily as they writhe in pain.
You caress the thoughts of Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei as you whisper, "Fair point."
You say, "You can always make new friends."
Lunette says to you, "The tone doesn't match the words."
You say, "See Ashira, willing to risk herself for you. Willing to stay with you, lost."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to the Liar, "Who is your friend? The Darkness?"
You nod your head at Lunette, showing your acceptance.
(Gaudiguch): Lunette says, "When the tone doesn't match the words, he is being forced to lie."
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "I remain with my choice where both get their wish,
Liar gets to remain with darkness, albeit consumed, Madman goes free."
You caress the thoughts of Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei as you whisper, "Maybe! Ashira
and Kistan are both back with us."
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!" the Liar grabs at their fur and pulls hard, your heart
filling with fear and sorrow all at once as their voice echoes loudly through their powerful frame.
Tsakali hugs the Liar compassionately.
You say, "I merely speak the truth."
Ashira collapses to her knees and buries her face in her hands, crying softly. "Please...let us help
you..."
The Liar screams in anger and pushes Tsakali away before snapping.
The sandstorm swirling around the Palace of Pleasure solidifies briefly into the shape of a jackal's
head, which snaps down to swallow Tsakali whole before dissolving into dark sand once more to leave
no trace of her.
Lunette says to you, "I think the Darkness speaks within their mind, torturing them."
Speaking to the Liar, you say, "This is only the third time we have met, and we're willing to help
you. You don't have to be alone."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to Lunette, "It seems the darkness has made one mad,
and the other lie."
You nod your head in agreement.
Errente shrugs helplessly.
Xis gives the world a thumbs up.
Lunette nods her head sagely at Errente.
Marquis Xis says, in Dracnari, "Hello."
The Liar says, "Why?"
Kistan Rithel says, "We are a ragtag bunch here but give or take, the very best of friends."
The Liar exclaims, "Why do you even care? I'm nothing to any of you! You're all...you're nothing but
strangers!"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "All life is important. You are in danger, and
we just want to help you!"
Kistan Rithel says, "Does the why matter? Only the gesture counts."
You say, "Why? Because we value freedom, individuality. You are trapped, you are in need of help."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to the Liar, "You are one of us."
You say, "However you ended up here, it doesn't have to be forever."
A shadow can be seen moving in the pink fog, growing more defined until Tsakali steps into
existence.
Kistan Rithel says, "We have all lost friends. But we have moved on. We raise a glass to their
memory and trust that time heals."
Errente nods his head at Tsakali.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Today I learned to find another tae'dae to hug."
Quietly, the Liar exclaims, "I had nothing before, nothing to return to. If I...If I lose my only
friend, then what will I do? I can't be alone again, but you all...you're all in danger if you stay
here. I already used my favour with the Herald!"
You say, "You have helped us, strangers, calling the Herald to protect us from the darkness on our
last visit. Why could you not believe we want to help you?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "You will not be alone. I won't let you be. You
will be with us."
You say, "Having nothing means that the only way is up."
Kistan Rithel says, "Danger we will gladly face to relieve your suffering. You have already done the
same for us? What people would we be of we did not do the same for you?"

(The Crux): Gurashi says, "Who? Are O-K??"
(The Crux): Ashira says, "We are fine."
(Fire Hogwash): Errente says, "The Madman is silent now?"
You caress the thoughts of Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei as you whisper, "We're trying
to persuade the Liar that we want to help, even though they're a stranger."
Zeebin arrives, following Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer.
A shadow can be seen moving in the pink fog, growing more defined until Shulamit steps into
existence.
Shulamit creases her brow in a frown.
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "We coming with madman."
Ourina arrives, following Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei.
A shadow can be seen moving in the pink fog, growing more defined until the Madman steps into
existence.
A shadow can be seen moving in the pink fog, growing more defined until Zacheah steps into
existence.
Appearing lost, a dream-dazed byakko wanders into the room with an ambling gait.
The Liar gives a horrified gasp.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Oh."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "The Liar's actually physical."
Glaring at the Liar, Ourina prods him repeatedly, the height of rudeness.
You say, "If the Liar and the Madman are powerful, as you seem to be, why can you not work together
to defeat the darkness?"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi frowns and says, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Backing away from the Madman defencively, the Liar exclaims, "What...why? The storm is here,
it's...you...you're not supposed to be here! You're out of your cage!"
Esoneyuna shoots a glare at the Liar before taking place next to you.
The Liar growls angrily and snaps.
The sandstorm swirling around the Palace of Pleasure solidifies briefly into the shape of a jackal's
head, which snaps down to swallow Ourina whole before dissolving into dark sand once more to leave
no trace of her.
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud murmurs to Shulamit, "The Jackal is Ebon, mother."
Shulamit hums slowly, glowing a mute shade of pink.
You say, "Liar, trust us, the darkness is not your only friend. Work with the Madman, and work with
us."
With a slow nod to Zeebin, Shulamit shows her understanding.
Zacheah gazes upon the Liar with black-shimmering eyes. Cold pinpricks of light and whirling
constellations sparkle with her eyes as they regard him with unnerving, unseeing focus.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Much into caging people Liar?"
The Liar exclaims, "I cannot, he wants to kill my friend. They've done nothing to deserve this!"
The Liar says, "No, I didn't...I would never..."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "But your darkness would."
A shadow can be seen moving in the pink fog, growing more defined until Ourina steps into existence.
"SINS MANY, BUT THE LIAR ONLY HELPED ME FIND MY CAGE. I PLACED MYSELF THERE."
You say, "Is the darkness really your friend, if it keeps you trapped here? That's not what a friend
does."
Tsakali opens her mouth as if to say something, but pauses.
"You idiots! I'm not trapped here!" Runes glow along the Liar's muzzle, and they grimace as they
continue to exclaim, "I'm here to keep them company!"
You say, "Madman, so the Liar has helped you in the past. They spoke of conversations you've had
before. Can you not help them in return? Working together?"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Them who? The hawk, snake, and jackal? Or the Madman?"
"NO! THE DARKNESS MUST BE DECIMATED! IT MUST BE DESTROYED! IT CANNOT BE! IT CANNOT EXIST!
A brilliant pulse of pink light rises from the city of Gaudiguch, sending a strange ripple through
your surroundings.
Shulamit takes a deep breath as the crystal surface of her face softens and shifts in colour, a
muted glow appearing within.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Just...let us help you both!"
Zeebin nods his head at Ashira.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "The darkness takes your voice for their own Liar,
is that the act of an ally."
(Gaudiguch): Kistan says, "The madman does seem to be the unreasonable one."
The Liar shakily holds an arm out towards the Madman, as though preparing to call the jackal, but
then the paw drops. "I cannot...I can't break my promise."
Errente nods his head at Kistan.
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "He's called Madman after all."
The Liar glares fiercely at Esoneyuna, arm flying back up, "My voice is my own!"
The sandstorm swirling around the Palace of Pleasure solidifies briefly into the shape of a jackal's
head, which snaps down to swallow Esoneyuna whole before dissolving into dark sand once more to
leave no trace of her.
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to the Liar, "What promise?"
You say, "Who did you make your promise to, Liar?"
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Why'd you eat Esoneyuna?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "Just tell us what we can do to help you."
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "Jeez. And someone said they weren't hungry."
Leaning his weight back upon his arching tail, Zeebin slackens his limbs and basks in the ambient
atmosphere.
The Liar says, "...it's too late. You're here, no matter how many times I ask the jackal to spit you
out..."
(Gaudiguch): Ashira says, "We said they didn't take food."
(Gaudiguch): Ashira says, "We said nothing about people."
The Liar grimaces as the runes along their muzzle flare into precedence again.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "I think I know enough of the personality of the
Liar."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "What is that rune? I don't remember seeing it before."
Errente tilts his head and listens intently to Esoneyuna.
Shulamit gently clasps her palms together, glowing reflective hues as she meditates, the smoke
inside her slowing to a crawl.
exa liar
The Liar says, "...just...stop the Madman. Please. I...I can't harm him. I promised him."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Stop him from doing what?"
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to Errente, "He would send the darkness against us,
ergo he is our enemy."
Kistan stands next to the Liar "We said we would stand beside you".
Ourina creases her brow in a frown.
Errente sucks thoughtfully on his teeth.
Ashira steps up to stand on the other side of the Liar. "I won't abandon you."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to Ashira, "You would stand with a creature that
attacks your citizens mayor."
The madman cackles, his emaciated limbs stretching out as he gestures around him, "YOU ASK OTHERS TO
AID YOU EVEN AS YOU DEVOUR THEIR COMRADES! YOU FOOLISH TAE'DAE, YOU WILL FALL JUST AS THE DARKNESS
YOU SERVE WILL!"
Esoneyuna's eyes sparkle with amusement.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "The Madman kind of has a point here."
Zeebin blows a single plume of calming smoke towards the Madman approvingly.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to Esoneyuna, "He attacked me as well, but out of fear. I
stand with him."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Actions speak louder then words."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "If the Liar keeps sending the Jackal to eat people, I say we leave
them to their own devices."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Yet the Liar won't attack the Madman, as per his
promise."
"So if you see him too let him know," sings Kistan, quickly playing a celebratory tune on a terrible
lyre.
With a shrug, you say, "The Liar did say they'd been asking the jackal to spit you out again."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "You all do as you see fit, but I will not abandon him."
"My, My, My..."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to you, "Irrelevant, he sent it on my first."
Zacheah creases her brow in a frown.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "The Herald talks?"
Errente blinks.
Lunette blinks.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "She hasn't before..."
"What trouble you have gotten yourself into, My sweet little Liar. A final test, then."
Lunette says, "Not that we were aware."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "Who's talking now, then?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "The Herald."
Lunette says, "The Herald."
You say to Esoneyuna, "Out of fear, and desperation, but yes."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "It's the first time."
(Gaudiguch): Coraline says, "Hello!"
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to you, "Neither of those are excuses."
The Liar shakes their head, tearfully looking up into the storm with a sad smile on their face,
"You...you don't have to do this. I promised I'd stay with you forever. Just send them home."
Ourina jerks slightly as the air fills with sparkling motes of bright light.
You sense Coraline pulling on the strands of aether surrounding Ourina.
Among the sparkling motes of light, a translucent figure appears in the air and then quickly
solidifies as Coraline comes into view.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "No. I will not leave you here again!"
Lunette blinks.
Coraline Myeras says, "Oh, hello everyone!"
Shulamit takes a deep breath as the crystal surface of her face softens and shifts in colour, a
muted glow appearing within.
Lunette asks, "The... The Herald is the Darkness?"
You say, "No, something else, I think."
Errente blinks incredulously at Lunette.
Zeebin gives Coraline the once-over, eyeing her suspiciously.
A dark cackle rings through the air as the same voice emerges as before, only now a dark and raspy
baritone, "They know so much, and understand so little. But they are exactly who I wished to come,
My little Liar."
Oldsie, Ourina says to Coraline, "So there's a hungry jackal here but he only likes eating people."
You say, "Or not."
Coraline Myeras asks Ourina, "Not even cookies...?"
Ourina shrugs helplessly.
Coraline greets the Liar with a sincere smile.
Softly, the Liar says, "Please don't hurt them. You told me that You would get rid of them if I was
scared, and that is all I--."
Shulamit wraps a comforting arm around Zeebin.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to Coraline, "Just don't touch him..."
The Liar's snout flares with brilliant runes and they fall to the ground again, writhing in pain.
Coraline Myeras whispers, "Oh.."
You say, "Madman and Liar, it sounds like both of you may be on the same side after all."
Lunette says, "LEAVE HIM ALONE."
Zacheah gives the Liar a concerned look.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "The runes are hurting him!"
Errente nods his head at you.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "We need to get them off somehow!"
Ourina looks up into the air for divine inspiration.
You say, "The Herald, the Darkness - toying with you."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "The Liar attacked us, I say leave him to his
faith."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "No wonder the jackal doesn't want us touching the Liar."
Esoneyuna shrugs helplessly.
"A curse not of My making, but one they have lived with for longer than they have known." But yes, a
test...
Tsakali scowls miserably.
Kistan Rithel mutters, "Oh i hat. tests."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Herald, who are you?"
Ashira reaches toward the Liar but keeps her hand just above the rune, not touching.
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to Kistan, "Tests are only fun when you can write your
own answers and still get full marks."
You say, "But why were they cursed?"
A torrent of dark sand swirls out of the sandstorm, moving like quicksilver through the air before
winding down onto the palace roof. Slowly it takes form, until a cobra with a glaring ruby
hieroglyph visible on its hood hisses angrily at all those gathered.
Coraline Myeras says, "We should find a way to get the runes off of him. Evil or not, no one
deserves to be in that much pain."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to Kistan, "They never let me write my own answers in
Hallifax."
Tsakali ponders the situation.

You crease your brow in a frown.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "They seem to be magically bound to him...I don't know if
we can without touching him..."
Lunette glances up at the cobra and adjusts her goggles, fixing a few focusing crystals into place.
"You may choose. Kill this 'darkness' you are so afraid of, or allow it to kill the Madman. There is
no changing My mind on this outcome."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to the Liar, "I will help you defeat it."
The Liar reaches out towards the cobra, eyes filled with tears as they whisper, "No...please, don't
hurt...my friend..."
Tsakali consumes a scarred candy femur with gusto and appears slightly more confident in herself.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "There is only one Answer to this Liar, you should
not even have to think about it."
Time slows down once more, until everything is frozen in place.
Kistan Rithel says to Ashira, "Stay your hand."
A brilliant pulse of pink light rises from the city of Gaudiguch, sending a strange ripple through
your surroundings.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to Kistan, "I will help him if he will let me."
The serpent alone remains in motion, dancing in place as its hood flares out to either side.
Kistan Rithel says, "He does not wih you to so let these events play out."
"You have time to deliberate, My little morsels, but even I am only so lenient."
As Zeebin caresses the surface of his icon, a tendril of smoke rises from the surface, whirling
about his head. With a shudder Zeebin's eyes go empty and fathomless, cold stars spinning over the
depths of his oilslick-swirling gaze.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Is the Cobra the darkness?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to Kistan, "He has not said so."
You say, "Yes."
The icon cools, the smoke dissipating from the gleaming image.
Nervously, Coraline Myeras says, "I'm really bad at making decisions.. you should never leave such
big decisions to me. It never ends well."
Errente wraps a comforting arm around Coraline.
Kistan Rithel says to Ashira, "He said don't hurt his friend."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "I vote defeating the darkness and saving them both."
"I will even permit each of You one question to me, and unlike My Liar, I may answer truthfully or
lie as I see fit."
You say, "The cobra is the darkness. If we don't attack it, it will kill the Madman. If we do, the
Liar may attack."
Coraline Myeras asks, "If the darkness is defeated... then, will the Liar die?"
As if quoting scripture, Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says, "Better to seek to understand
before one seeks to overthrow. Fear is the goad of the unenlightened."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "The darkness hurts the Liar, but the Liar calls it friend. If the
Liar makes such a choice and allows the Darkness to harm them, such is consensual."
"So if you see him too let him know," sings Kistan, quickly playing a celebratory tune on a terrible
lyre.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Destroy the darkness, if the Liar wants to be
collateral damage so be it, Freedom does not come free."
As Zeebin caresses the surface of his icon, a tendril of smoke rises from the surface, whirling
about his head. With a shudder Zeebin's eyes go empty and fathomless, cold stars spinning over the
depths of his oilslick-swirling gaze.
"The Liar will not die if you end My cobra."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "See."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "End the cobra."
Coraline Myeras says, "Oh, then my choice is clear."
Coraline Myeras says, "Kill the darkness and save them both."
Beloved Zacheah, Iklaran Nomad asks, "Who are You?"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Who will die if we do not end the Cobra?"
Kistan Rithel says, "We have more questions, do not waste this chance."
"I choose not to answer you, Zacheah."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "If we don't kill the "darkness," will the Liar die?"
Coraline Myeras whispers to Tsakali, "The Madman..."
Esoneyuna's eyes sparkle with amusement.
"The cobra will not strike down the Liar, for they are Mine."
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Mysrai or another?"
Shulamit steps backwards and away, glowing a mute shade of pink as her eyes go slightly blank.
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "They? Hrm."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Can I stay with the Liar if he will not leave here?"
You caress the thoughts of Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei as you whisper, "It could be,
not enough to say."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "This seems to be a test to see of the Liar can
overcome his own desires to help his friend."
Esoneyuna shrugs helplessly.
Zeebin scoots back to stand with Shulamit.
Lunette says to Ashira, "No."
Coraline Myeras asks the Liar, "Why do you want to save the darkness?"
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to Ashira, "Definitely not."
"The Liar will stay with me. If you were to attempt, you would perish, Ashira."
Kistan Rithel says, "Will killing the cobra free the Liar?"
You say to Coraline, "The Liar is frozen in time for now."
The Liar remains frozen, unresponsive to the question.
"No, Kistan."
Kistan Rithel says, "Then it is an exercise in futlily."
Lunette asks, "Is there a way for both to be freed?"
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "How do we free the Liar?"
Coraline Myeras whispers to the Liar, "...it's okay. I freeze up when faced with tough decisions
too...."
"In a manner of speaking, certainly."
You say, "If death counts as free..."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Is that matter that death is ultimate freedom,
because that would be rather annoying."
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to you, "I was about to say."
Coraline Myeras says, "They... whoever They are... said that the Liar wouldn't die if we killed the
darkness."
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says, "All things have that choice. Is death a worse fate for the
Liar than eternal slavery? I think that is a choice we cannot make on their behalf."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "None of these have harmed me, really. I vote not to kill anything."
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "But how do we free him?"
"Seek the truth the Liar has been attempting to show you, Ashira. Would end a threat you perceive to
them, and drive an insurmountable wedge in your relationship?"
"So if you see him too let him know," sings Kistan, quickly playing a celebratory tune on a terrible
lyre.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "What is your relationship with the Madman?"
Ashira takes a step back, blinking. "I..."
Errente blinks.
"Pathetic, really, how little you will do to save those you claim to be dear to your heart. What
small costs you will not allow to be paid. I choose not to answer that question, Ourina."
You say, "What did the Liar and the Madman do to end up here?"
You say, "And by here, I mean trapped in this reality."
Ashira sits down at the Liar's feet, staring up at him in thought.
Esoneyuna ponders you thoughtfully, looking you up and down.
"The Liar, an unfortunate victim of happenstance. The wrong place at the right time, torn through
the Veil and landed in a world that they could not recognise. The Madman...the Madman much the same,
only he arrived with intent."
Coraline Myeras says to the Liar, "From what I know... you will survive regardless of what we
choose, unlike the other two. So.... yay?"
The ghost of a smile passes fleetingly across Coraline's lips as she glances at the Liar.
Tsakali sits against a nearby wall, crossing her arms over her chest.
You nod your head.
Lunette says, "I know my vote."
A brilliant pulse of pink light rises from the city of Gaudiguch, sending a strange ripple through
your surroundings.
Lunette steps back and turns silent.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to you, "You have not taken a stance yet wife."
Taking a golden broom by its handle, Zeebin sweeps the room of imperfection and a golden glow
emanates from the ground.
You say, "I have not, yet. They both seem victims, trapped by the Herald, the darkness."
Ashira continues to gaze up at the Liar, whispering to herself. "I don't know what to do...I don't
want to harm you..."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to you, "Yet one choice is freedom, the other death."
Esoneyuna shrugs helplessly.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Can we choose to kill the Herald?"
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to you, "It seems the end result will be the same,
according to the Herald."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says to you, "It just wants to see what we decide."
You nod your head in agreement.
Oldsie, Ourina says to Tsakali, "If you kill the Herald, we'd be stuck here."
"Yet only one is an aggressor, choosing to attempt to override My Liar's paradigm with his own...why
should he deserve to live?"
As Zeebin caresses the surface of his icon, a tendril of smoke rises from the surface, whirling
about his head. With a shudder Zeebin's eyes go empty and fathomless, cold stars spinning over the
depths of his oilslick-swirling gaze.
The icon cools, the smoke dissipating from the gleaming image.
Kistan Rithel says, "He should be locked up, safe and away."
You say, "Toying with us, with them."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Why should the liar's paradigm be allowed to hold
another captive."
Oldsie, Ourina says, "I'm pretty sure the Madman doesn't actually want to mess with the Liar, just
go home."
Coraline Myeras whispers to you, "Is the darkness... the cobra.. the same entity as the Herald?"
The soft voice of Esoneyuna tickles your ear, "Seems very much Mysrai."
"Foolish, Esoneyuna. The Madman chose his own cage."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Yes but he now choses to leave it."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Unless the Madman is the actual liar, and the Liar
is the madman."
You say to Coraline, "I think the cobra is a creation of the Herald, the entity we speak to."
"Now, you will choose, for My patience wears thin."
Comprehension flashes across Coraline's face.
Ashira continues to whisper to herself, "I will stand with you, no matter what."
Lunette says to Esoneyuna, "The Liar hasn't held anyone captive. The Madman kept himself captive."
Errente nods his head at Lunette.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to Lunette, "Yet the madman can not leave."
Coraline looks at you and comprehension flashes across her face.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "So the choices are what, kill the cobra or do not. Right?"
Lunette says to Esoneyuna, "Because of the Darkness."
Lunette nods her head at Esoneyuna.
You say to Tsakali, "Yes."
Lunette says, "I stand, with the Liar."
Ashira tilts her head backwards and draws her arms up, delicately weaving threads of burning
illusion into the shape of an all-seeing eye, which she leaves floating darkly above her head.
The cobra sways back and forth as time begins to move forward once more, and only when time moves
normally does it turn its hooded head towards the Madman.
Ashira stands up and stands next to the Liar. "I'm sorry, all. I will stand with the Liar. Do as you
must."
Kistan Rithel says, "The cobra will attack the madman . You have the choice to intervene."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "It is simple the Liar turned to us with aggression
himself, so death to darkness I say."
Zeebin approaches the Madman, searching for something familiar in his face.
You say, "If we kill the cobra, the Madman lives. If we kill the cobra, the Liar loses a friend."
Coraline Myeras says, "Then, this doesn't change my decision. The Madman and the Liar talk to us...
I'm familiar with both of them... the darkness is a cobra. I prefer to sacrifice a non-sentient over
a sentient."
"I DO NOT FEAR YOU, DARKNESS!"
You say, "I would protect the Madman."
Kistan Rithel says, "And he has so few friends."
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud murmurs, "The cobra climbs the mountain. Fang pierces skin. Venom
begets the Ebon."
Kistan Rithel says, "I will stand by the Liar, as promised."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "I still say the Liar should live."
Errente hugs Ashira compassionately.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "He will live either way Errente."
You say, "The cobra, the jackal, they are creations and not true friends."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Only the life of the Madman is in the balance."
Errente Bel'Fiore, Firebear of the Goons says, "Oh."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "I do not think the Madman deserves to die, but if he does, it will
not be by my hand. I will stand with the Liar."
You say, "Even though the Liar believes they are their friends. I think they're wrong."
Kistan Rithel says, "We merely decide on the madman's fate, some cosmic bargaining chip."
The cobra slowly begins its advance towards the Madman, who stares it down with a hideous grimace of
his brick-like yellow teeth.
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "We need to trick the Herald into taking us home."
(Gaudiguch): Ourina says, "And then kill it."
Xis nods his head at Tsakali, showing his acceptance.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "I believe the Liar does not know what friendship
is."
Esoneyuna shrugs helplessly.
You have emoted: Dys stands betwen the cobra and the Madman.
Ourina narrows her eyes and stares carefully at the cobra.
Zeebin stands before the Madman, exhaling a thin veil of grey smoke.
Ashira stays next to the Liar.
Esoneyuna joins you in barricading the way of the Cobra.
"So if you see him too let him know," sings Kistan, quickly playing a celebratory tune on a terrible
lyre.
The storm is silent, watching on, and you feel the world seem to hold its breath.
You say, "Losing a false friend isn't the end. Maybe in time, the Liar would see this."
Lunette moves next to the Liar, adjusting her goggles once more.
Tsakali exhales slowly, allowing a long fluid breath to creep from her lungs.
Shulamit exhales slowly, standing next to Zeebin as she glows a muted grey colour.
Coraline join Dys and Esoneyuna, shielding the Madman from the cobra.
You say, "Losing a false friend - that can free someone."
Midnight shadows coalesce around a new day, and Mother Night embraces the land in utter darkness.
It is now the 6th of Estar, 546 years after the Coming of Estarra. (the Divine Havens) [49207]
Errente stands with Ashira.
Coraline joins you and Esoneyuna, shielding the Madman from the cobra.
Tsakali stands next to you, frowning down at the cobra and puffing up her tail in an entirely
disappointing portrayal of aggression.
Zacheah slowly moves to stand beside the Madman, her hands shaking.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Perhaps, but he will not see you as friends if you kill
the cobra. He will need us. I will not help kill his friend."
Xis takes up residence next to the Liar, shaking his head softly.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to Ashira, "We don't mean to kill the Cobra, but we will still try to
help the Madman."
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says, "We honour his choices."
Coraline Myeras says to the Liar, "I'm sorry... but I would rather save a life, even if you will
hate me for it."
You say, "The cobra is a creation of the darkness, the being that speaks to us. I don't think it's
real."
"AHAHAHA! YOU SEE! NOTHING WILL STOP THIS!" The madman reveals an enormous, jagged rock, and he
rushes towards the cobra, breaking free of the line protecting him.
Tsakali stares implacably about herself.
The Liar's heartfelt cry is muted briefly by the sound of splattering guts and the spray of blood,
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!"
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, "Foolish Madman, stop!"
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Oh for so.."
Ashira winces in pain.
Esoneyuna rushes after the Madman.
Zacheah quickly buries her face in her hands.
Marquis Xis says, in Dracnari, "You chose a murderer."
Watching the Madman go, Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says, "Ebon bloom before you, lost one."
Coraline covers her eyes with her hands, peeking nervously through her fingers.
Kistan Rithel says, "Can't cure madness or stupid."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, in Dracnari, "A murderer who wanted to preserve his own life."
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says to Xis, in Dracnari, "Self defense is all."
The Liar thrusts out their arm multiple time, snapping their claws as tears stream hot down their
face. "No...nononononono..."
Ourina peers at the Liar unscrupulously.
Oldsie, Ourina says, "He looks alive to me."
Ashira wraps an arm around the Liar's wrist. "I'm so sorry..."
An enormous storm made of black sand rises high over the Basin of Life and the city of Gaudiguch,
breaking free from the pink dome surrounding the pyramids. A massive figure can be seen beyond, and
then the storm moves as a whole, withdrawing into a singular point.
Zeebin glances askance at Kistan.
The chaotic sandstorm descends rapidly back down into Gaudiguch, disappearing within the globe of
pink light and sending red lightning crackling along its exterior.
You say, "I'm sorry Liar. But a 'friend' that hurts you is no true friend."
Coraline nods solemnly.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "And the Liar is not a true friend either."
Kistan Rithel says, "Love without pain is not love. And what is friendship without love."
Reality buckles and warps as though some great form is smashing down upon the ground, only ceasing
when a storm of chaos energy begins to rage and Mysrai steps from its depths.
Comprehension flashes across Xis's face.
Zeebin beams broadly at Shulamit.
Errente stands over Ashira, eyes on the storm.
Marquis Xis says, "The Lord and Lady."
Esoneyuna's eyes sparkle with amusement.
Tsakali frowns at Mysrai.
who here
You see the following people here:
Lunette, Ourina, Mysrai, Zeebin, Errente, Esoneyuna, Zacheah, Coraline, Ashira, Tsakali, Kistan,
Xis, Shulamit, Dys.
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says, "Hello Lord."
Mysrai's eyes narrow as They stare down each of you in turn, softening momentarily on those who
sided with the Liar, and hardening again the moment it moves to one who stood with the Madman.
Beloved Nirsaad, Zeebin al-Saaoud says to Shulamit, in Dracnari, "You were Their beacon again,
mother."
examine mysrai
With much of Their figure fading in and out of shifting realities draped around Them, there is
little that can distinguish the gender of this small figure. It is only certain that She or He is a
radiant immortal. Where Their body is visible, small tufts of short-cropped fur can be seen in
intermittant patches, the flesh beneath visible pulsing with colourful hieroglyphics of a dead
language. Set deep into an elongated, canid head are twin vortexes of inky black Void, stars and
constellations spinning and swirling through their depths in nonsensical, hypnotic patterns. Atop
Their head sit two peculiar ears, like cones that have been flipped upside down, swivelling
constantly to capture more of the world around Them. In the area just beyond Them, enormous limbs of
black sand and forked red lightning twitch in restless anticipation to cause untold destruction
through the strange and alien realities barely glimpsed through the chaotic sandstorms.
Long black fur, shot through with strands of deep crimson, extends in a mohawk that stretches down
Their spine to the small of Their back.
He is wearing:
a reforged crown of gleaming voidcopper that floats ominously above Their head;
tattered robes of ebon silk that look ready to fall apart at any moment;
a spiralling ring resplendent with gemstones that is pierced through Their right ear;
a thick golden collar beset with dark gems that hangs heavy across Their shoulders and throat.
Coraline greets Mysrai with a sincere smile.
Shulamit blinks slowly, glow suddenly shutting off completely.
Lunette kneels before Mysrai, swearing her allegiance to Him.
Shulamit Lunarose, Multifaceted Designer says to Zeebin, "I do not think that is the case."
Ashira kneels before Mysrai, swearing her allegiance to Him.
Shulamit curtseys gracefully before Mysrai.
Coraline Myeras asks Mysrai, "Hello... were You the Herald? Were You testing us?"
Errente bows respectfully to Mysrai.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says to Mysrai, "It is good to see You again, Thousandfold."
Xis nods his head at Kistan.
A crackle of red lightning crashes through the sandstorm surrounding the Shofet of Abyssal Scales as
Their mouth twists into a grimace.
Nodding slowly, you say, "Lord and Lady..."
Mysrai, the Shofet of Abyssal Scales says, "This is what I have returned to."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to you, "Well our first theory panned out."
Zacheah looks up from her hands, her features pale.
Coraline surreptitiously hides a frosted silver armlet with her crimson coat.
Kistan smiles wryly at you.
You nod your head in agreement.
Mysrai, the Shofet of Abyssal Scales says, "At least not all of My city is so foolish as to
willfully choose madness. To choose to side with an aggressor, to side with..."
Childishly, Errente sticks his tongue out at Esoneyuna.
Kistan Rithel murmurs, "Madness leads to death."
Most Darling of Wifes, Esoneyuna Mzithrei says to Errente, "Them and me never agreed so."
Errente smirks at Esoneyuna.
You say, "I chose to side with hope."
Shulamit glows a sad shade of grey, leaning on Zeebin's shoulder.
Tsakali, Pilgrim of Bodhi says, in Dracnari, "I'm pretty sure most of us supported the Liar, even if
we tried to keep the cobra from killing the Madman."
Zeebin wraps a comforting arm aorund Shulamit.
Not making eye contact, Coraline Myeras says, "I would prefer madness over darkness..."
Mysrai's voice cuts off as They glare angrily around, turning on Their heel and approaching the
Liar. Carefully, They help them up to their feet in spite of the fact they stand so much taller than
Them.
The Liar rises into the air, born aloft by a swirling dust devil of dark sand, and They carefully
press Their lips to the Liar's forehead - covering them in a brief, brilliant glow of light.
Mysrai, the Shofet of Abyssal Scales says, "...this will be spoken of, but not here. This place will
devour you all, and leave you lost to the Abyss."
Utterly entranced, Tsakali emits a long "Ooooh."
Ashira nods her head at Mysrai.
Lunette nods her head emphatically.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Let us go home, then."
Coraline begins to follow you.
Xis smiles softly at the Liar.
Marquis Xis says to the Liar, in Dracnari, "I doubt you can understand me, but I am glad you are not
harmed Liar."
Mysrai snaps Their fingers in a simple motion that shatters the air like so many panes of glass, a
glowing pink portal appearing in the air.
Mysrai drops a glowing pink portal.
Tsakali ponders a glowing pink portal thoughtfully, looking it up and down.
Ashira Ysav'rai, the Glowing Ember says, "Come, let's go."
You say, "Through we go!"
Tsakali takes a careful step through a glowing pink portal, disappearing but for a vague shadow
visible moving on the other side.
With a careful step, you venture into a glowing pink portal, passing through what seems to be an
entire meadow of pink fog before you emerge, unscathed, in a world strangely familiar to your own.
Coraline follows you ether.
